BLUE EARTH COUNTY FEASIBILITY STUDY
Klein McCarthy Architects teamed with various consultants to provide master planning and preliminary design. The goal was to determine how to best address the Judicial and Law Enforcement needs of the County.
Blue Earth County sought to expand its governmental services including the jail, Sheriff's Office, courts and courts support (including court administration and probation). The desire was to collocate all these functions on one site.
Several sites were explored and master planned. including the existing Sheriff's Office and jail site downtown, the existing historic courthouse east of downtown, and a 7 acre remote site on the eastern side of town that was owned by the County. After review of the master plans and cost impacts to the County, the final decision was to purchase a 40+ acre site on the east side of Mankato. The site allowed for the 116 cell jail, Sheriff's Office, courts and courts support.
