WILLIAMS COUNTY JAIL EXPANSION
As the inmate population at the Williams County Jail began to exceed its 112 bed capacity when it opened in 2009, due to the surge of workers to the oil fields in this region of the country, the County decided it needed to increase the maximum number of inmates within its existing facility located in downtown Williston, ND.
Klein McCarthy Architects was commissioned to design and observe construction of an internal expansion to allow the county to provide the maximum number of beds possible. An existing shelled space allowed for the addition of 20 beds in an area designed to meet ACA and DOCR standards. Borrowed light windows were added to provide natural lighting in the inmate dayroom and bunkroom.
