Klein McCarthy provided full architectural services from Pre-Design through Construction Administration for the Barnes County Correctional Center.
This new facility replaces the 100+ year old antiquated Jail with a new 46 bed facility and moves Dispatch out of the basement of the historic Courthouse. The new building also was designed for a future EOC, Training Center, and Joint County/City Law Enforcement Center addition.
The new Jail uses modular steel cells, a rear chase design for easy maintenance, and a central control to maximize visibility. The facility provides multiple inmate classifications including mental health and a negative pressure air unit. Support spaces include a full commercial kitchen, laundry, recreation, and classrooms.
Construction of the Jail and Dispatch were completed in the fall of 2021.
