With the County outgrowing their 72-Hour Holding Facility, the solution was to add a 28,000 square foot full service jail adjacent to the existing Government Services Building.
To achieve the best possible jail staffing efficiencies, the jail was physically connected to the existing Government building which contains the 911 Dispatch / Jail Central Control. This connection allowed the existing Dispatch Center to remain with the Sheriff's Department while remotely controlling the secure perimeter of the new jail. This design decision saved the County staffing and construction costs by eliminating the need to split staffing of these services or duplicate the physical area for master control.
The 72-bed jail contains six housing units utilizing indirect staff supervision, as well as two housing units located within intake. The jail contains facilities for inmate programs, laundry facilities, a full service kitchen, intake and release spaces and a four bay vehicle sally port.
