Stevens County hired Klein McCarthy Architects to evaluate their existing courthouse to assess if the County could accommodate all necessary County Government Services in a single location.
The project gutted and reused the structure of the courthouse, renovated and updated both interiors and exteriors, and provided a significant addition to house a joint City / County Law Enforcement Center and a Courts holding space. The project is designed to allow for the addition of jail housing if needed in the future.
The design incorporated many sustainable design features including an extensive geothermal system, a highly efficient building envelope and a responsive modern heating / cooling system.
